The Right Home Inspector

Purchasing a home is an enormous expense.  It’s not only the price of the house but then there are all the fees that are associated with it such as closing costs etc.  If these costs are way more than you had expected to pay when you started the process, you might be tempted to look for ways to save money and cut some costs.  One of those costs that you may think of saving is with the home inspection.  But, why is this a bad idea?

As we’ve already stated, purchasing a home is a huge expense, possibly the biggest expense you are going to have, so it’s very important to find out everything about the home you are about to buy to make sure it’s a good investment.  If you skimp on the home inspection, it could end up costing you thousands by not discovering any major issues with the home before you bought it.

Another way you might think about saving yourself a few dollars is by choosing a less than qualified home inspector to do the job.  This would also be a bad idea for the same reasons that we’ve already mentioned.  When choosing your home inspector, it’s always worth it to choose an InterNACHI qualified home inspector, this way, you know you will be getting the best and most in-depth home inspection.  So, while it might cost you a little more money than someone who is not as qualified, when it comes to such a huge investment, it’s certainly worth it to pay the extra.  It’s important to recognize where you can cut costs and where you should spend the money with the home buying process and your home inspection is not something that should be skimped on.
